About Us
The IIM Libraries consortium was the outcome of the IIM Librarians' desire to explore resource sharing options actively. Besides encouraging the interlibrary loan practice, IIM Libraries also thought seriously of resource sharing in many other areas such as cooperative acquisition, cooperative processing, and distributed utilization. The concept of the IIM Libraries consortium was initiated in 2000, and the Consortium has completed 21 years and is going strong with many new initiatives.
The Union Catalogue project is an initiation of IIM Bangalore, In the 16th annual meeting of IIM Library consortium held at IIM Bangalore in October 2016, the librarian of IIMB proposed developing a union catalog of holdings of all IIM libraries with a seed grant of Rs 15 lakhs. This catalog's primary purpose is to have a shared bibliographic database of all IIM libraries that are available in print format. This will facilitate the location of an item/resource and enable the users to seamlessly place interlibrary loan requests, reduce duplication of cataloging efforts, and contribute as a collection development tool for all Business School Libraries in India.
Currently, 16 IIM LIBRARIES have contributed their holdings and committed to supporting the AMC and Cloud hosting charges.
