Summary: During the last three decades of the struggle for Independence, three great men dominated the Indian political scene – Gandhi, Nehru and Sardar. Of these three, Sardar Patel seems to be the least glorified, if I may say so. The significance of the role Sardar played in the struggle for independence and thereafter in shaping the destiny of our country deserves much more than mere admiration and adoration. This brochure is but a small attempt to bring out certain aspects of Sardar’s unique personality and this contribution. It is the result of two lectures, one organized by Baroda Municipal Corporation and the other by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Rashtriya Smarak, Amdavad on December 11, 1982 and March 7, 1983 respectively.
