The Return of Sherlock Holmes is a collection of thirteen stories published between 1903-04 in Strand Magazine and Collier's in the United States. The first story, "The Adventure of the Empty House," tells the story of Holmes returning to London after being presumed dead. He and Watson take down Colonel Moran, a potential assassin and murderer of Ronald Adair, to resume their detective work. The second story, "The Adventure of the Norwood Builder," involves a young man named John Hector McFarlane falsely accused of murdering Jonas Oldacre. Holmes saves McFarlane and the document, which could spark a war, is recovered by Holmes and Watson. The story highlights the dangers of letting loose on innocent people.
