Poverty elimination in rural India

With almost more than a decade of experience in public policy domain has played a significant role in shaping the present work through extensive interactions with poor, policy makers and academia. This book is valid in larger social science research domain, supportive for young and emerging social scientists. It definitely must be a source to drive in different literature on understanding poverty and policy mechanism. As exemplified in the preface, the book has become a model not just for its contents, but also for its rich empirical understanding. Thus, the book has three main aims: to provide changing policy scenario since the beginning of planned economy, to help scholars and policy analysts develop further analytical process, and to provide an exemplary method for researching unsearched social issues. The book has altogether nine chapters with detailed coverage on conceptual issues of poverty, broad picture of poverty alleviation programmes, strategic policy instruments in selected states and empirical account on the process of policy implementation. The present work also recognizes the importance of understanding rural development programmes from the perspective of the grassroots. The book examines and investigates social and economic poverty conditions looking at the on-going state initiated policy.
